Peace Village Day Camp July 16-19

9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“What is important is the glimmer of hope we see for a more peaceful life in our children.  Our Peace Village Day Camp teaches children specific tools to build understanding and create peace within themselves and with their communities.”

Children and youth will learn about “Peace and the Planet” (environment, ecology, nature); “Peace and our Culture” (responsible thinking, media literacy, compassionate communicating, movies, TV, internet, anti-bullying); “Peace with Others” (non-violent problem solving, role-playing, peace advocacy) and “Peace within Self” (centering, calming the mind and body, meditation, breathing, concentration, movement). There will also be singing, storytelling, art projects, nature walks, outdoor games, service projects and field trips.

Quotes from campers at 2016 Peace Village Day Camp:

Ryan,12, said, “Peace Village is nice because even though it’s about one topic—peace—we do a lot of different things during the day.”

Camper Dash,11, had this to say, “We played games using teamwork and communication.”

Reilly, 16, stated, “This was a good learning experience about different faiths—Jewish, Muslim and Christian.  I didn’t know women could be rabbis—so that was neat to learn.”

“This camp is fun—it’s taught me peace meditations.” said 6 ½ year old Thea.
